Shine
Nursery to Five
& 1st-5th Grade
At Shine, our mission is simple: to partner with parents in making disciples of Jesus Christ.
Our kid's ministry provides a loving and safe environment in which children can learn. Our goal is to teach each child the Word of God and help them build a foundation that will edify and establish them in the faith. It is our desire to come alongside parents as they train up their children in the Word of God, helping children grow in their knowledge and understanding of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Shine is available during regular service time. Children are dismissed during Sunday Service following the worship songs. Shine is for children ranging from infants - 5th grade. Classrooms open fifteen minutes prior to the start of service to allow you time to check in your children. See you there!

FAQ
How do I check my child in?
Upon arriving at church, visit the Shine kiosk to check your child in before dropping them off at their classroom. Once checked in, please put one of the identification tags on your child in a visible location. Once you arrive at the classroom, the class teacher will greet you and help you complete the check-in process. If your child needs you during the service, you will receive a text message on your cell phone. Please keep your phone on vibrate during the service.
What are your security and safety procedures like?
Safety and your children’s security is of utmost importance to us. That's why all leaders who participate in Shine are given background checks and must be in good church standing here at Phōs Church. All leaders are required to wear a Shine name tag. Only the person who has signed in your child(ren) will be able to check them out again by providing the proper identification tag, given to you at check-in. We also have a gatekeeper at all times to ensure only authorized individuals are entering the children's area during service. All surfaces are cleaned regularly and each classroom will be thoroughly sanitized after every service. Every classroom has hand sanitizer available to teachers and helpers. Toys are sanitized on a weekly basis.
What does a typical Sunday at Shine look like?
Kids will come together for group singing and an active worship time. They will then divide into their age groups for a Bible teaching and discussion. Crafts, games, and organized playtime will follow to complement and affirm the lesson. Providing age-specific classes adds to the fun of learning and growing together all the while creating godly relationships with children their own age.
What snacks will be provided?
Can my children bring their own?
Yes, each class will be given a healthful snack. Shine strives to be a nut-free environment. Should you need to provide a specific snack for your child’s allergy, we ask that this be discussed beforehand with a leader. Bottles and sippy cups for nursery age children are allowed and should be marked with their name.
How do you handle behavior and discipline?
Behavior issues will be handled with gentleness and self-control. We will not verbally, physically or emotionally punish children. Correction will only be given to maintain classroom safety and order. If your child is unable to receive correction, we will contact you during the service via text. Please keep your phone on vibrate during the service in case you are needed.
I'm a nursing mother.
Where can I feed my baby during service?
You may keep your baby with you during the service, if you would like. If you prefer to step out to comfort or feed your baby, then you are welcome to utilize our nursing mother's room in the back of the sanctuary. There is a speaker inside so you do not have to miss the message.
My child has special needs.
How can you accommodate them?
At this time, we are not equipped to offer a special needs ministry; however those with varying abilities are welcome to join our services.
We hope to be able to offer a specific ministry in the near future.
